Last October 27 was the perfect culmination of a trip that began in March 2020. When the pandemic paralyzed the world, and the Tourism Industry, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Sommet Education set out to carry out a project that It will encourage resilience, sending a message of strength to startups in the travel sector.

They then launched a common initiative, that match the situation, looking for ideas and people capable of accelerating the tourist recovery. At chartok we did not hesitate for a second to sign up, as the pandemic further reaffirmed our mission as a traveltech startup to accompany hoteliers in the internal digital transformation thanks to digital communication and automation, and we understood that this was precisely what the “Hospitality Challenge” was looking for.

A few months later, in November, the UNWTO announced that the startup contest already had finalists, among which was chartok. In this first victory we were able to access a scholarship to one of the prestigious universities under the Sommet Education seal; We saw a strategic opportunity to increase knowledge around chartok and I moved to Marbella to study the Master in Marketing for Luxury Tourism at Les Roches Marbella.

But the dream did not end here, the second part of the contest was missing – I already told you that this initiative was up to the task – which was to choose among the 600 applications received from the three winners. The most innovative startups with scalability potential that would be awarded 100,000 euros of Eurazeo funding to support and expand their initial development. And then chartok was chosen gandora along with Searchef and Join F&B, chartok at the Future of Tourism event in Barcelona.

Both Joan Sanz and I are extremely grateful for this recognition. Thanks to the UNWTO Hospitality Challenge we can see the result of two years of hard work, a lot of resilience and bet on an idea that has always been aimed at improving the future of work in the hospitality industry.
